From Yellowstone to the Everglades, our Fifth Graders have just completed their National Park projects, and what a journey it has been!
Each student chose a park to explore, wrote letters to real park rangers, dove into research through NPS.gov and local libraries, and transformed their discoveries into beautifully crafted Main Lesson books and detailed poster boards. The project culminated in oral presentations shared with middle school students and teachers – an opportunity to stand tall, speak clearly, and teach others what they’ve learned.
This is Waldorf education in action. Deep, interdisciplinary learning. Handwritten work that strengthens thinking. Art woven into academics. Real-world connection through letter writing. Public speaking that builds confidence and presence.
In Fifth Grade, students are stepping into a new sense of independence, and projects like this meet them right there. They research, create, synthesize, and present. They don’t just “do a report.” They become experts.
