Board of Trustees
Kimberton Waldorf School is an independent not-for-profit school with a collaborative governance structure which includes a Dean of School, Governing Team, Core Teams, and a Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees is responsible for the long-term sustainability of the school. This includes adopting a mission and vison for the school and overseeing short- and long-term strategic goals that are consistent with these statements. The Board also oversees the Dean of School.
The Board normally meets monthly to deliberate over such topics as budget, strategic planning and a healthy community life. The first 15 minutes of each board meeting can be made available as an open segment to the KWS community for public comment. In general, the community comment time in Board meetings is only included on the agenda if someone has requested it. Please let the Board Chair know if you would like to comment at a given meeting, and it will be reflected on the agenda for that meeting. If there is a specific request that you would like the Board to consider, please complete a “Discussion Paper” using the linked template. Completed forms may be sent to the Board Chair or Secretary for consideration. Please note that some requests may be redirected to the school administration if they fall outside the purview of the Board.
The Board works collaboratively with the Dean and the Governing Team to lead the school. The Board consists of six to fifteen volunteer Trustees. The Dean of School is an ex-officio member. Service on the Board is by invitation only. The Board of Trustees of Kimberton Waldorf School strives to uphold the NAIS (National Association of Independent Schools) “Principles of Good Practice” for Board of Trustees operations.
