Music, especially live performance, has always been an intrinsic part of the Waldorf curriculum. To enable live music, the school is privileged to own not just one, but three Steinway grand pianos. They are all used extensively for eurythmy classes, vocal classes, school recitals, the school musical, craft show music, public performances, and much more.
Unfortunately, all three pianos are in need of repair and restoration. If we do nothing, the pianos will just keep getting worse. The KWS Steinway Restoration Fund has enabled some progress, but there is still much to be done.
To address this, we are producing a keyboard concert for the public at the Colonial Theatre to raise money for the KWS Steinway Restoration Fund.
The concert features a diverse roster of professional performers, covering classical, jazz, pop and more. Our own Mike Ruhl will be performing as well. The concert will raise money for the fund, plus generate positive public awareness about Kimberton Waldorf School in a way that supports “the Art of Education.” It's an opportunity to make a real difference in improving the pianos at the school.
If you support live music at KWS, and would like to contribute your time, talents or resources in any way to make this event a great fundraiser for the school, we welcome your participation.
We're forming a Parent Committee to organize support for the event and make it a success. Please join us. It will be lots of fun and a chance for you to really make a difference for the school!
