SUPPORT KWS PA TAX CREDIT
On May 7, 2001, by an overwhelming bipartisan majority, Pennsylvania made history by becoming the first state to pass an education tax credit aimed at corporations. The Educational Improvement Tax Credit program provides businesses doing business in the state with a tax credit of up to 90% for contributions to nonprofit scholarship organizations. In essence, a business re-directs the majority of its PA corporate income taxes to a scholarship organization of its choice. Kimberton Waldorf School is a registered Scholarship Organization with the State of Pennsylvania.
Scholarship Organizations are nonprofit organizations that provide scholarships to children across Pennsylvania to attend the schools of their choice— public, nonpublic or religious. Scholarship organizations must distribute at least 80% of their funds in scholarships annually. Families of children receiving scholarship must meet state income guidelines.
Since 2002 Kimberton Waldorf School has received $175,000 from businesses in the state of Pennsylvania through the tax credit program. These funds have permitted the school to assist families with tuition assistance for their children.
Presently there are three EITC programs in which businesses can participate, two of which benefit Kimberton Waldorf School:
K-12 EITC Program (private schools)
Pre-K EITC program (private schools)
Educational Improvement Organization Program (public schools)
