The application for the 37th annual Kimberton Waldorf Craft Show is now available. Please contact me for a copy of the application. There has been increased interest in the past few years, so please try to honor the September 15th deadline.
Our annual craft show offers useful and beautiful handcrafted objects at a festive event that also raises scholarship monies for families in need. Organized and run through a whole-community volunteer effort, the show serves to display the school to the larger community.
The show is held at the school, with booths located in the classrooms and hallways of the high school building, and in the gym. The gala opening on Friday evening attracts many eager shoppers. Events on Saturday include lunch, an elegant tearoom with musical entertainment, and a number of children’s activities. Last year we had over 1600 attendees.
The jury welcomes applications from both treasured long-term participants and interesting and exciting new exhibiters. We attempt to honor both in our selection process. Quality of work, type of craft, originality; natural forms and materials; and range of prices all enter into the selection process. See below for details. If you have questions, please feel free to call me at 484-716-0961, or email me at with “Craft Show” in the subject line.
For the Craft Show Committee
ENTRY: Applications must be received by September 15th. Jury results will be mailed in September. Slides and photos will be returned ONLY if sent with SASE with enough postage.
Each completed application form must be accompanied by:
1. Three to six colored photos (preferred) or slides of the applicant’s own work, numbered to correspond to the description on the application. One photo should show the booth layout. IMPORTANT: Only types of work juried may be in the show. If you plan to share a booth, each artist’s work must be juried. NOTE: Photos are not required if applicant meets one of the following criteria:
a. Attended the Show the past three years or more and will be bringing the same work;
b. Submitted photos with last year’s application and did not request them returned.
2. Two checks: a non-refundable processing fee ($15.00) and the appropriate booth fee (see application), payable to KWS Craft Show. Booth fees will be returned to those not accepted.
JURY: Even if you’ve been accepted many times, you still need to go through the jury process. Both the members of the jury and the balance of the show change from year to year. Design, quality of work, and originality are all considered in our decision making. We will not accept items made from kits, molds, or commercial patterns. All items must be handmade by the applicant. We prefer natural materials and finishes. If you have questions, please call and ask before submitting your application.
SPACE: There are approximately 80 spaces: a small space, either 6’x 8’ or 4’x12’ ($175) or a large space, 6’x 12’ or 4’x18’ ($195). The different sizes in each category are due to the space restrictions in different locations. These sizes are approximate; due to the layout of the school, some spaces will be more irregular than these dimensions imply. Tables are not provided, and booths with high sides will not work in most of the spaces. Please consult with us if you have any questions. If you require electricity, please bring an extension cord.
SALES: No commission is taken.
