Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Martin Luther King Celebration - Friday, January 17, 2014
Each year we celebrate the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a school-wide assembly organized by the Diversity Committee. Students will gather together in the morning to honor King's life and work for human rights through songs, speeches, and stories. In the afternoon students will have the chance to engage in a variety of creative activities that focus on bridge building, social inclusion, and social justice. Grades 8-12 have the opportunity to hear an inspiring presentation from a Martin Luther King scholar and Professor of Poetry from Ursinus College and participate in a wide array of freedom school activities including African dance, music of the movement, human rights law, meditation, spoken word, and more.
Parents are warmly invited to attend the assembly at 10:45 am.
